The pictured artifact has been passed down for generations. A blacksmith extended the shank of this wood-drilling bit. It requires
something to hold and twist it to drill holes in wood, usually a T-handle with a clamp for the
drill's shank or a wood-drilling brace that clamps the shank in a chuck and has an offset
handle to turn it. Probably used for building wagon parts. Useful for drilling
aligned holes in opposing, but separated, parts.
