(looking west)

This is the West Fork River at Woolsey.  There was another ancient railroad trestle, just like this one, bridging the river at West Fork town, but new road construction took that one out.  Highway U.S.71 is 150 yards behind you, in this view, and the Woolsey Cemetery is off your left shoulder.  The Woolsey Church is a quarter mile straight ahead, west of the bridge.  There is only a little water running in the creek in dry September.

C.A. Doyle hauled loads of railroad ties down Winn Creek Road with a team of mules.  There was a railroad yard at Pitkin where the ties were sold.
