At the northern end of Bosque del Apache lie some shallow ponds that Sandhill Cranes retire to each evening in the
winter months to roost. On this particular morning, a large number of Snow Geese also appeared at one of the ponds.
We were fortunate to be there in the early morning, when the geese were beginning the flight to their feeding areas.
Mid-January
