In the center is the remarkable, twenty two domed Cathedral of the Transfiguration (1714) and to the left the
Church of the Intercession of the Virgin (1764). These lie in Karelia, in northwest Russia, on the island of
Kizhi in Lake Onega. These structures were made entirely of wood, no nails were used in their construction.
